Hokkaido has six national parks, five semi-national parks, and abundant nature can even be found near big cities. Nature experience activities by schools, private organizations, and companies, as well as guided tours, are actively carried out. On the other hand, the participant layer for these activities are limited, and opportunities to learn about issues which are difficult to see, such as climate change, are even more limited.

This foundation works provide practical support for school education under the theme of nearby nature and environment, development and implementation of environmental learning programs, and training of the instructors, etc.

We work towards the development of experience programs for use in school classes, events, etc. Programs are designed on more than 30 various themes, arranging base programs according age, the number of people, the facility, field, etc.

We actively carry out development and implementation of programs in coordination with NPOs, facility managers, school teachers, etc. We work to develop programs that match the actual conditions of the region and train persons who will bear responsibility, by utilizing the know-how accumulated by this foundation and the potential of various entities of each field.

Creating a framework for the promotion of utilization of district resources in school education

Using the Kushiro wetland basin as the field, we work to develop a framework aimed at the promotion of utilization of district resources in school education. For example, a series of approaches are carried out, such as teacher training lectures in coordination with the education committee, etc., coordination of an on-site, practice model class on a nature restoration project, class support and educational material development, and activation of school research projects.
